Music & Movements / Creative Movements

Movement classes are a fun-filled introduction to the world of dance. Each class is designed to stimulate the child in a whole body approach to learning. While utilizing Ballet based vocabulary, many forms of movement and varieties of dance are explored. Dance lessons naturally incorporate a wide variety of gross and fine motor skills while introducing concepts of musicality, temp, energy, and level. Language and listening skills are enhanced through a variety of poems, stories, and songs. Social skills are encourage by learning to take turns, follow direction, gain an understanding of personal space, and follow the rules of classroom etiquette. Movement classes enhance emotional growth through imaginative exploration and the opportunity to connect with and release emotion through movement. 

Other benefits of music and movement include: Releasing Energy in a Positive and Healthy Outlet, Developing Small Motor Skills, Developing Large Motor Skills, Learning to Express Emotions, Improving Balance and Coordination.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms. Body placement, flexibility, balance, alignment, strength and technique are achieved through barre and center floor work. Learning proper vocabulary will also be a focus in this class.

Pointe concentrates on the transference of ballet steps from demi-pointe to pointe and is introduced only when a dancer has developed sufficient strength in the feet and legs necessary for this discipline. Students under the age of 12 are not allowed in this class and permission is needed by the instructor for admission into pointe class.

Lyrical & Contemporary

Lyrical & Contemporary dance explores movement, space, rhythm and the dancer’s own creativity with emphasizes on momentum, shapes and patterns. This form of dance is inspired by nature, music, art, and human emotions.

Intermediate Ballet/Lyrical | Ages 12+ | 

Advanced Lyrical/Contemporary | Ages 14+ | 

Tap

A rhythmic combination of technical movements and style, tap focuses on the recall of intricate steps of the foot incorporated with upper body grace. Timing, Musicality, and Rhythm are concentrated on during class. Tap can be performed with or without the accompaniment of music while still showcasing technical skills and entertainment.

Jazz

Jazz offers the basic steps, vocabulary, and variations of dance in jazz, which is a common form of dance used in commercial and entertainment industries, with its roots in social dance and heavily influenced by African-American traditions. Students learn basic techniques based on ballet and modern dance. Through daily warm-ups and exercises, students gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Musicality and performance skills are taught through a series of dance combinations.

Acro

Acro is a combination of classical dance techniques with acrobatic and gynamstic elements. Students will gain strength and focus heavily on flexibility with acrobatic tricks.

Beginner Acrobatics in Dance | Ages 6-10 | 

Intermediate Acrobatics in Dance | Ages 10+ | 

Advanced Acrobatics in Dance | Ages 14+ | 

Hip Hop

Hip hop offers a trendy workout danced to hip, upbeat dance music. This class focuses on isolation and coordination exercises along with hip hop linking steps. Additionally, floor stretch and conditioning exercises are also studied.

Beginner Hip Hop | Ages 6-10 | 

Intermediate Hip Hop | Ages 10+ | 

Advanced Hip Hop | Ages 14+ | 

Theatre

Utilizing vocal training, acting techniques, and improvisation give any theater student a proactive and progressive learning experience; this class will help the beginner and the experienced student to perfect their skills!

Beginner/Intermediate Theater | Ages 10+ | 

Intermediate/Advanced Theater | Ages 14+ | 

Private Lessons may be scheduled for Audition Preparation, Vocal, Acting, and Dancing Techniques as well.
